Favorite thing to eat on a cold day – Grilled Cheese.
All of the rage lately is eating grilled cheese. You can get them at most restaurants and food trucks are selling them like crazy. But you can make them right in your home; even the gourmet kind. All you need is the right kind of cheese and that thick bakery artisan bread. I love to eat them with tomato soup too. Add whatever you’d like!
Slice artisan bread. Butter one side of each slice. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the buttered side of the bread. Heat medium sized frying pan over a low to medium flame. Once pan is hot, place one slice of bread, butter side down, on the pan. Next layer your cheese and if you use another ingredient such as tomato, bacon or avocado, add it now. Then place your second slice on top, butter side up and smoosh your sandwich down with your spatula. Wait until the cheese starts to melt and the sandwich sticks together. Take a peak underneath to see if it’s golden brown. If so, it’s time to flip. Now cook for about a minute. Once the bottom is golden brown, your sandwich is finished and you can plate. Don’t worry practice makes perfect. You can always re-flip. I know I get really excited to eat my sandwich so I typically flip too early, but that’s ok because I can always flip back. Once your sandwich is ready, slice in half and enjoy. Remember you can serve it with my tomato soup to make it super café gourmet.
